Last Thursday,May 19,an 11- year old boy who was allegedly killed by his father to please the stepmother was laid to rest in Kagiso,Mogale City,South Africa.His twin sister was lowered into the grave before and after his coffin was lowered as their tradition demands.
According to the Traditional and Community leader, Sibangani Khanyile,it is a necessity to prevent bad luck and death from following his twin
The community members who came out in mass at the boy’s funeral practically organised it since no one could account for their mum’s family.
It was gathered that,the twin are originally from Mpumalanga but was brought to Kagiso,Mogale City by their mother’s friend after she died.
The twins were said to have been maltreated by their stepmom according to a neighbour,the step said she couldn’t accept them because their father cheated on her with their mum.
The devastated sister of the boy was comforted by their mum’s friend, Nomgqibelo Maphanga, who brought them from Mpumalanga.
Nomgqibelo who expressed her pain and said she had lost the most free-spirited child she has ever come across. She expressed her appreciation and relief that the funeral arrangements went according to plan.
"My prayer now is that his soul rests in peace," she added.
The boy who was killed the previous Saturday was found on Tuesday last week. His father has reportedly confessed to killing him. The father has been charged with murder and is still in police custody.
