In order to step up to international standard, the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC),is proposing to merge Christian and Islamic Religious Studies under one compulsory subject Religion and National Value(RNV).
This new development will aid reduce the workload of the primary and junior secondary pupils from 20 to a maximum of ten subjects under the nine-year basic educational curriculum.
Other subjects under the RNV include Civic Education, Social Studies, and Security Education.
