yesterday,May 10,the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, told the Senate that the criminals involved in clashes between herdsmen and farmers are not necessarily Fulanis.
“We believe that most of those involved in the clashes between herdsmen and farmers are not necessarily the Fulani. Available statistics to us in government show that contrary to media reports that these violent herdsmen are the conventional Nigerian Fulanis, they are not, as none of those apprehended was able to speak any of the Nigerian languages, giving strong credence to the possibility of the violent herdsmen to be another form of terrorists in the mode of Boko Haram”, he said.
Lopobiri went further to make recommendation on the issue said:
“The best way to solve this problem will be the creation of ranches. If we create ranches, we will provide what the Fulani man is looking for,”
