Dunia Sibomana who was attacked by a troop of chimpanzees will undergo facial surgery

Dunia Sibomana who is now 8 was said to have been severely injured to the point of losing a finger,some of his right ear,his lips with one cheek torn apart leaving him with muscle damage that make it hard for him to eat, swallow and communicate.

At age 6,Dunia Sibomana ,his 4 year old brother and a friend were attacked by a troop of chimpanzees while they were playing near Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo .The animals killed the friend, killed and dismembered his brother and left him severely injured.

Dunia is set to undergo a rare and complicated surgery at a Long Island hospital that will use tissue and muscle from his forearm to recreate both lips.According to Dr. Leon Klempner, founder of the Smile Rescue Fund for Kids and other doctors,there is high hope that he will once again be able to open and close his mouth, and eat and talk normally as well as fit into the society once again as the little boy has been a target of bullies.
